She was the consummate musical storyteller, a griot who used her remarkable talent to create a legacy of liberation, empowerment, passion, and love through a magnificent body of works. She earned the moniker ‘High Priestess of Soul’ for she could weave a spell so seductive and hypnotic that the listener lost track of time and space as they became absorbed in the moment.
Originally issued in 1967 on RCA Victor, Nina Simone's Silk & Soul finds the versatile songstress tackling Burt Bacharach by way of Dusty Springfield on the "The Look Of Love," to go along with album opener "It Be's That Way Sometime" which was written by her brother Sam Waymon and an impassioned take on Morris Bailey Jr.'s "Go To Hell" which was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
