Half of the tunes on this CD are written by Christina Gustafsson herself with lyrics by Cecilia Ĺse, Helena Davidsson and Stefan Danielsson. Her songs are rooted in jazz with influences from the American singer/songwriter tradition. The rest of the songs on the CD are Christinas' own arrngements of jazz standard favorites and the James Taylors hit Your Smiling Face. Co-producer is Pĺl Svenre, a well established name in Swedish popular music. Christina Gustafsson, vocals; Max Schultz, guitar; Erik Söderlind, guitar; Martin Höper, bass; Calle Rasmusson, drums. After Moments Free (PCD 086) it felt natural for me to continue to write my own music and continue the collaboration with the band on Moments Free. I'm very fond of the these talented musicians and nice persons. They are always encouraging and contribute with creative ideas. Me and the text writers Cecilia Ĺse och Helena Davidsson have worked close together and talked about me thoughts of life right now and what the contents of the lyrics would be. That's the reason why the lyrics became very personal and intimate. On the CD you also find James Taylor's charming Your Smiling Face, a song that I couldn't resist. With Max's and Erik's awesome guitar playin' that tune was a obvious song to record. I have also picked some favorites from the jazz standard repertoire. I have re-harmonized Stormy Wheather in a slightly more "stormy" arrangement in a 5/4 beat. On I´ve Got The World On A String I use a more traditional arrangement. The bass player Martin Höper played Smiling Hour from Sarah Vaughan's Copacabana and i didn't hesitate a second the record it. On that song it felt natural to invite some other female jazz singers to join me in the choruses: Lina Nyberg, Rigmor Gustafsson, och Sofia Pettersson really add splendour! Also Sebastian Notini with his Pandeiro contribute with his musical imagination. A new acquaintance for me is Pĺl Svenre that with his musicianship and experience have made this CD to something special for me. My band members are not only great musicians, they are also very good singers and are joinin' in in some of the tunes and in choruses. Martin Höper and I sing a duet - Smile. I wrote a arrangemant on that one in a Something Stupid spirit. All in all I hope this is a record that you will enjoy!
