Ricimero is the masterpiece of Giacinto Calderara, the Piedmont musician whose bi-centenary is celebrated this year. This rare score of baroque opera was commissioned by the Teatro Regio in Turin to open the 1755/56 season and was rediscovered by Maurizio Benedetti during a research project that seeks to re-evaluate the inestimable heritage of lesser-known Italian music. An absolute premi?re edition in which the vocal virtuosity of the castrato voices is magnificently rendered today by the vocal acrobatics of the soprano Manuela Kriscak in the role of Ricimero, accompanied by the talented young Colombian soprano Alexander Zabala as Ernelinda. A monumental opera, which lasted three hours in its original version, is reproposed here in its essential parts: the arias are strongly characterised by expressive intentions, in obedience to the dominant theory of affetti in baroque opera. >>> Większa okładka A <<<
