Roy Orbison Sings Lonely And Blue (1961) marked The Big O's first taste of superstardom. After experiencing only marginal success with Sun Records and RCA, Orbison moved over to Fred Foster’s fledgling Monument Records in 1959, and that’s when the big hits started rolling in. In 1960 alone, Orbison had two Top Ten hits with “Only The Lonely” and “Blue Angel” (both found on this LP), followed by six more over the next four years and culminating in 1964 when his “Oh, Pretty Woman” made him a living legend! A few things contributed to Roy Orbison’s success. The songs, the production, and the performance were key factors. The songs were completely original in structure, sound and style. Totally innovative compositions, that didn’t exist until then. It became a style. Fred Foster really went for quality instead of quantity. He was willing to splash money on a session without any guarantee of payback. He was also willing to take a chance on a sound that did not conform to accepted market norms. "Orbison intended to offer this song to either Elvis Presley (also a Sun Records alumnus) or the Everly Brothers, who had cut the Orbison song "Claudette." But Orbison's falsetto made the loneliness real. "For a baritone to sing as high as I do," he said, "is ridiculous." - Only the Lonely: #234 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time >>> Płyty winylowe należy przechowywać WYŁĄCZNIE w NAJLEPSZYCH NA ŚWIECIE koszulkach produkcji legendarnej wytwórni MOBILE FIDELITY. 100% gwarancji na pozbycie się trzasków będących w istocie w 90% efektem ładunków elektrostatycznych a nie uszkodzeń mechanicznych płyty! <<<
