This CD brings together a series of rare live recordings which Bruno Walter made with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra between 1942 and 1950. The value of these rarely-heard recordings is heightened by the superb quality of the reading: here we find Walter far more intense and diabolical than in the albeit superb studio recordings of the final years of his career. A CD that no admirer of the great German conductor can afford to miss.
