This disc couples Max Reger's best known string quartet with the rarely recorded Clarinet Quintet. For Reger chamber music was a life-long preoccupation and from the turn of the century onwards he composed a steady stream of works based upon string textures from unaccompanied violin up to the particularly Brahmsian form of the string sextet.
