This album helped ring in the era of cover versions and appeared at a time when Bob Dylan had departed from the path of folk singer to travel down the road of “electrified rocker.” Two acoustic guitars and a bass are all that Odetta would tolerate to provide a stage for her swinging, bluesy “original instrument” as she described her own voice. In addition to Dylan standards like “Tambourine Man,” Odetta tackles tunes that Dylan himself never even cut. Original versions of “Baby, I’m In The Mood For You,” “Walking Down The Line” and “Tomorrow Is A Long Time” never appeared in the Sixties. And the songs “Long Ago,” “Far Away” and “Long Time Gone” were never released on any of the official Bob Dylan records.
