The main work in this collection is Mussorgsky's ever popular "Pictures at an Exhibition" in an arrangement for Brass ensemble by Stephen Roberts, horn player with the Fine Arts Brass. The story of Mussorgsky's portrayal of ten paintings by his friend Victor Hartmann is well known as are the original piano version and the several orchestral arrangements of the piece - principally that by Ravel. This disc offers a more unusual but equally rewarding approach in the form of an arrangement for brass instruments.
