All theatres in the world dream, sooner or later, to stage Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots; ever since its creation, this is one of the most performed operas of all times, much more than Aida, Carmen or Tosca. After the indisputable success of Robert le Diable, the Martina Franca Festival has decided to stage Les Huguenots. Not in order to prove that there is a new generation of singers capable of taking on Meyerbeer’s challenge, but to make people aware of the importance of a work which the younger generations ignore. An opera that is innovative and bold, and has represented a veritable Bible for composers, Verdi included; an opera that is as revolutionary and ambitious as few others in the history of music. The cast includes some of today’s most promising voices, such as the sopranos Desirée Rancatore (Marguerite) and Annalisa Raspagliosi Cast Raoul de Nangis Warren Mok Marguerite de Valois Désirée Rancatore Valentine Annalisa Raspagliosi Le Comte de Saint Bris Marcel Soon Le Comte de Nevers Marcin Bronikovski Urbain Sara Allegretta Conductor Renato Palumbo Orchestra Italian International Orchestra Chorus Bratislava Chamber Choir Chorus master Pavol Procházka
