Legendarny, stary 'mobajl'
The beautifully timeless "Celluloid Heroes" is the crown jewel of this 1972 collection that was originally issued as a two-LP set- with one platter being a studio album and the other disc being a live performance. While MoFi's mastering of the studio sound yields the best version yet, it's the live show from Carnegie Hall that gives you the best "you are there" feel yet! The concert is a charmingly loose, rowdy, and sometimes silly show that really captured the essence of the Kinks at that time. This was the expanded version of the British quartet with a finally-permanent keyboardist and a brass section. They mainly reprise songs from the Muswell Hillbillies, Arthur, and Lola albums, with Ray Davies at his campiest best. Fans should note that Mobile Fidelity used the full-length versions found on the original vinyl release plus two additional live tracks. New deluxe illustrated liner notes by Kinks biographer Fred Schruers are included.
