SACD ONE LAYER na SHM-CD
Previously unreleased live recording of the John Coltrane Quintet at the Village Gate in August 1961. The group welcomed Eric Dolphy as the fifth member that day. This 90-minute live recording was recently discovered at the New York Public Library. In addition to the classic songs "My Favorite Things," "Impressions," and "Greensleeves," the recording also includes "When Lights Are Low" with Eric Dolphy's bass clarinet and "Africa" composed by Coltrane. This "Africa" is the only non-existing studio recording. (C)RS
