Without an in-depth analysis, it might be easy to assume that Argentinean concert music is full of references, both direct and indirect, to the musical world of the tango. However, the importance of tango in the shapimg of the Argentinean people's musical identity notwithstanding, the fact is that this singular genre of urban popular music remains practically absent in the production of important composers from Argentina. -Juan Arturo Brennan
