Originally issued on Bethlehem Records in 1955, This Is Chris is comprised of the final recordings jazz vocalist Chris Connor recorded for the label before moving to Atlantic where she became an international star. Produced by Creed Taylor and recorded by Tom Dowd, the rich 10-song set finds Connor in fine form accompanied by the likes of Herbie Mann (flute, tenor saxophone), Ralph Sharon (piano), Joe Puma (guitar), Milt Hinton (bass) and Osie Johnson (drum) along with JJ Johnson and Kai Winding (trombone) who guest on a handful of tracks. Dominated by four Cole Porter originals ("It's All Right With Me," "I Concentrate on You," "From This Moment On," "Ridin' High"), additional highlights from the sessions include accomplished takes on the blues standard "The Thrill Is Gone" and jazz standard "Blame It On My Youth."
