Another in the now famous Bruno Walter Hollywood Recordings, is Brahms 4th Symphony with Bruno Walter conducting the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in Hollywood. According to Michael Hobson, founder of Classic Records and a champion of this title, " Maestro Walter was in a very romantic stage late in his career when he relocated to Southern California and embarked upon a series of recordings at the American Legion Hall in Hollywood, this one in February 1959 under the production of John McClure from Columbia Records. McClure would come out to Hollywood every year in January and February and record Bruno Walter conducting the Music most important to him which included the Brahms Symphonies. Original Columbia pressing are hyped in the midrange and very tinny sounding but cut from the original session master reveals not only the greatness of the performance but also the beautiful sound of the American Legion Hall used for the recording. Clarity SV-P II 200g vinyl! This is one not to be missed!
