AllMusic Review by Stacia Proefrock Spanning his numerous albums, this best-of compilation presents a selection of music composed by Vollenweider over the span of 20 years. More energetic and sharper than others working in the new age genre, his compositions are refreshingly complex and employ a pleasant mix of organic and electronic instrumentation. Highlights include "Behind the Gardens, Behind the Wall, Under the Tree," which has an almost funky edge, the rhythm-driven "Flight Feet & Root Hands," and "Passage to Promise," which features an appearance from Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The CD also includes a bonus multimedia track which features a video of "Pearls and Tears."
