"Kevin Bowyer's decision to return to the 1995 Marcussen organ at Tonbridge School for this issue was a wise one. A versatile and beutifully crafted instrument, it has the facility to sustain Alain's exotic and highly charged harmonies, and energise to perfection its imaginative ostinati. Bowyer's interpretations are thoroughly convincing across the board, and his programming of both discs gives some sense of order to the few scattered but innovative works Alain left us at his untimely death in 1940." Andrew McCrea, BBC Music Magazine MusicWeb InternationalAugust 2012 Kevin Bowyer has nothing to fear from comparisons with either Eric Lebrun or Marie-Claire Alain. His speeds are closer to those adopted by the composer’s sister than to those of Lebrun. Presumably she, if anybody, knows how the music should go...If you like the sound of a naturally recessed church acoustic, then Bowyer is probably your choice for these works.
