Following on from our previous ventures into "Hard Rock" (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aerosmith etc) we thought it was about time that we delved a little deeper into the "Heavy Metal" arena (just to test the response you understand). Thus we have elected to go even further by releasing one of the greatest live heavy metal albums of all time. Welcome for the first time to Deep Purple and the awe-inspiring DOUBLE live masterpiece "Made In Japan" (No.16 UK, No.6. US).
Starring the "Mark 2" line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Ian Gilliam and Roger Glover, "Made In Japan" was recorded on the band's Japanese tour of 1972 and despite the feuding factions within the band (Gillian, Glover and Blackmore basically just didn't get on), "Made In Japan" is a remarkable tour-de-force of live power and brilliant playing.
Containing such longtime faves as the awesome "Smoke On The Water" (Live Version No.4 US '73), "Black Night" (Studio Version No.2 UK '70) and the pulsating "Strange Kind Of Woman" (Studio Version No.6 UK '71), "Made In Japan" is a textbook example of how a live album should be recorded and heard. A beautiful double-gatefold cover too. Brilliant!
