RSVP Review by Scott Yanow Trudy Desmond's debut as a jazz-influenced vocalist was originally out on the Canadian Unisson label before being reissued on CD by Jazz Alliance. Accompanied by keyboardist Don Thompson, either Ed Bickert or Rob Piltch on guitar, bassist Neil Swainson and drummer Terry Clarke, Desmond's appealing voice is well featured on 13 veteran standards. Highlights include "I've Got the World on a String," "If I Were a Bell," "I Concentrate on You," "Just for a Thrill" and "It's All Right with Me." Desmond is particularly effective on ballads.
