The majority of the recordings made by the Quartetto Italiano and available today on the market were released by Philips in the ‘60s and in the ‘70s. The famous Italian Quartet had however started to record in the studio earlier on. This 2 CD box gathers in fact some of the most significant recordings made over the period 1949-1954. They were issued by London and HMV. The new restoration, quite faithful to the original, affords pleasurable listening in high quality sound.
