César Vezzani was a true tenor-fort, equivalent of the Italian lyrico-spinto, and therefore assigned the demi-caractère rôles which demand a wide vocal range. In addition Vezzani’s brilliant top notes place him firmly in a line of French dramatic tenors who can claim their heritage from Gilbert-Louis Duprez (1806-1896)... Reviews "Vezzani had truly one of the finest heroic voices among the French tenors. His interpretation of Jean de Leyden (Roi du Ciel) is excellent. His voice was very strong, with a huge rage, but he could soften his voice (see his first aria from Manon). This is a superb recording, practically no of the contemporary tenors can compare with Vezzani. He never shouted, there's no cry like Villazon or Licitra." - Anonymous
