1977's Magazine is a fine snapshot of Heart at the onset of their career as an idealistic young band, before they became such a worldwide phenomenon. Their second album is home to the same impassioned songs and hard rocking that marked the band's debut Dreamboat Annie with sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson weaving a highly evolved tapestry of gypsy meets modern woman.
Magazine boasts the signature Heart mix of light and heavy tracks from the rockin' "Devil Delight" and the bluesy-rock stomp of "Heartless," to the beautiful, sweet acoustic number "Here Song," the smooth "Just the Wine" and the Harry Nilsson cover "Without You," to the pure, slow chugging blues of "Mother Earth Blues" and the live recording "I've Got the Music In Me," all anchored by Ann's vocals which are incredible throughout. The platinum 8-song set firmly established Heart as a major player and one that was on a roll.
