The Auryn Series Vol. XVI features the Auryn Quartet performing Brahms' Complete String Quartets which includes "c minor, Op. 51/1", a minor, Op. 51/2" and "B flat Major, Op. 67". If you thought the DVD-Audio was dead, you are badly mistaken: in a small but steadily growing circle of admirers it is much-loved. The number of fans is no smaller than that of surround sound SACDs. TACET supports both formats because they can both convey surround sound equally well. This recording received accolades as a CD; but the effect is far more three-dimensional and direct in TACET Real Surround Sound, which demonstrates clearly what each part is playing, than in the stereo version. With the string quartets by Johannes Brahms, this is a great deal, and particularly, a great deal at the same time. If you wish to understand and enjoy complex compositions better without having to read a score, TACET Real Surround Sound is a must: it will enable you to enjoy the Auryn Quartet at the peak of its opulent timbres.
