In the year 1981 her major breakthrough was with the enormous no1. hit. "Why Tell Me Why". This was the best-selling record of 1981. The start was set for an impressive career. Huge hits such as "They Do not Play Our Lovesong Anymore", "Idaho", "The One That You Love", "The Sad Me", eva followed. Later Anita performs in the series of concerts of Lee Towers in Ahoy.
