WagnerfanTop Contributor: Classical Music 4.0 out of 5 starsI love this recording October 27, 2016 I love this recording. It's alive and involving with fine conducting and excellent singing. The production is famous for it's massive Act 2 set of Nuremburg which Sir Rudolf Bing described as the most expensive set produced by the Met at that time. There is a photo of it in his book 1000 Nights At The Opera. It helps the imagination to visualize what is going on with these excellent singers during this act. A Nuremburg to put Bayreuth to shame. The recording is in excellent mono with a few choppy moments during the first act Overture and a few other spots. A small price to pay for such an energetic and involving performance.
