Lotus Flower album for sale by Steve Turre was released Feb 09, 1999 on the Verve label. On LOTUS FLOWER, trombonist Turre incorporates Eastern influences with Latin percussion and a decidedly modernist jazz framework for some interesting results. Lotus Flower buy CD music The title track is a perfect example, as violin and cello interject Asian-sounding themes over percolating percussion and a Latin piano vamp, while Turre blows a zesty, uninhibited solo over this pan-cultural stew. On both ballads and burners, Turre's extraordinary range and tone are apparent as he plays cat-and-mouse with the string section, echoing phrases and weaving in and out of the arrangements.
