Legendarne tłoczenie KLAVIER! Numerowane - SUPER DISC
Frémaux and the orchestra were particularly busy in the studios in 1972. Their first foray, in April, was for a quintet of overtures by Offenbach (CD 12) which here appear for the first time on CD. I confess that Offenbach’s music isn’t really my ‘thing’ but I enjoyed this little collection. Orphée aux enfers gets a smiling performance and when the famous Can-Can arrives, played with élan, the music-making is more than smiling; it’s positively beaming. A highlight of La Belle Hélène is the delicious waltz. The last piece in the selection is La Vie parisienne. This receives a performance of gaiety and joie de vivre, which really made me smile. Light music all this may be, but already you can sense the CBSO playing with a French accent. https://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2017/Jun/Fremaux_CBSO_9029588673.htm
