Born in Osaka in 25th Dec,1955 and began studying the classical guitar at the age of 12 under Maestro Tatsuya Saitoh (1942-2006). He subsequently studied Classical Guitar at “L'Ecole Normal de la Musique” in Paris, under Maestro Alberto Ponce as part of a course of study which included instruction in musical analysis from Maestro Narcis Bonet. Fukuda graduated from the school in 1978 with the premier prix and a performer's diploma. Then he traveled to Italy / Academia Chigiana in Siena, where he studied with Maestro Oscar Ghiglia. He graduated in 1980 with the highest honor diploma. Fukuda was subsequently awarded many important prizes including First Prize in the 23rd Paris International Guitar Competition organized by Radio France(1991), the highest honor prize in Classical Guitar world. He has performed extensively at home and abroad, and has presented recitals in the major cities of nations including U.S.A, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Czech, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Finland, China, Uruguay, Colombia, Taiwan, Korea, Cuba, Singapore etc...many great composers dedicated major works to Fukuda, for example HIKA(1996) and Concerto de Requiem(2005) by Leo Brouwer, SONATA (1999) by Sergio Assad etc…now he recognized as the top Asian classical guitarist. Fukuda is also highly gifted and enthusiastic teacher and as such has trained many pupils who have gone on to gain the highest honors, these include young Japanese guitarists, Akiko Saito, Kaori Muraji, Daisuke Suzuki, Yasuji Ohagi etc... Fukuda has released more than 60 CD, LD,DVD & VIDEO albums since 1984.
