The music on this recording draws upon the many styles, rhythms, and moods of traditional folk music on both sides of the north Atlantic. These traditional folk idioms date back hundreds of years in many cases, and they continue to grow and thrive today. Included here are tunes from the American Southern Old-Time and New England traditions, the French-Canadian Quebecois and Cape Breton Nova Scotian repertoires, and from the music of Ireland and Scotland. The titles of many of these tunes reflect a broad panorama of music-giving voice to a wide range of places and experiences. - Chris Norman
