Beautiful Mistake Ernest Ansermet, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, K.E.Wikinson, the names are as glamorous as diamond when referring to together. Ernest Ansermet, with the title of “the God of Ballet”,had led the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, which was founded by him, to perform the most renowned ballet repertoires. And, with each note being recorded by K.E.Wikinson,a legendary sound engineer. Forever would I keep in mind the scene when I was presented the master at a private broadcasting station two years ago. That was a rainy morning. The air was purely fresh and sunshine reflected by the snow cap of the mountain far away made me dazzle. A strong presage occurred to me that something special would happen, By the moment the director of the station showed the dust-covered recording to me, immediately I figured out it’s Anserment! I stubbornly insist that, only he was endowed by God the sense and blood of ballet; only under his conduction could Orchestre de la Suisse Romande present such a strong Latin flavor- luscious and vivid tone color, sharp and brief strings- and sparkles spurted by percussion and woodwinds. Thanks to Wikinson, the recording, despite being only made by station, the width and depth of stage, and the positioning of instruments are all excellent. Well the most highlighted is the flexibility of strings and massiveness of brass. My dear friends, what you are going to experience in this record, is exactly what Virgil Thomson said about Ansermet,“as smooth as shell, just like the rainbow after the rain, and as fresh as a peach…” . With great appreciation to my dearest friend Chris, without whom, I would never have the chance to encounter the priceless recording.
