...Only three or four years ago Szeryng recorded the Brahms Concerto with the same orchestra under Monteux (RCA mono RB16168: stereo SB2049), and this version is still in the catalogue. The new one is a shilling or two cheaper, and in one important particular very much better. The RCA discs were somewhat marred by the balance, which made the orchestra sound rather distant and the soloist much too close. On the new stereo disc, the balance is very good. Soloist and orchestra are in the same perspective, and the result is the Sort of sound one hopes to hear in the concert hail. For Some reason the balance on the new mono disc is less good, in fact not much better than on the old RCA mono; the soloist sounds both too close and rather strident... https://www.gramophone.net/Issue/Page/April%201963/30/814448/ Swoją drogą... ciekawe, jakie kwestie podejmowali recenzenci w 1963 roku...
