1993's short-lived third reincarnation of the eclectic British guitarist John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra yields some interesting results. Though the use of electronics gives ADVENTURES IN RADIOLAND a somewhat dated feel, songs such as "Florianapolis" are melodic and tuneful. Soprano and tenor saxophonist Bill Evans (not to be confused with the piano player of the same name) adds charm and diversity to each track by employing a delicate tone and legato approach amidst the other electronic instruments' often busy musings, while McLaughlin displays his usual stunning guitar virtuosity. Highlights include the raucous "The Wall Will Fall," and the serene "Reincarnation."
